The Duke of Portland Boathouse has been voted the best waterside retreat by BBC Country file magazine and its location at the top of Lake Ullswater gives it superb un-paralleled views.
It is one of the most iconic and most photographed and painted buildings in the Lake District, it originally belonged to the 3rd Duke of Portland in the 18th Century.
Its interior design and furnishing provide an ideal honeymoon / romantic break for those seeking to indulge themselves at any time of the year.
So striking is the design it has been featured in the Cumbria Life Magazine.
It really is a special place.
